If your dog suffers from the hip pain
of arthritis or dysplasia…

Give them a Hug!

Patent Pending

The HipHug is a 100% cotton flannel, rice-filled blanket that heats in your microwave for one minute. (Or less, depending on the size.) The moist heat created by the rice cuddles your dog’s hips and lower back, easing joint pain and relaxing muscles.

My name is Deborah Pittman and I created the HipHug for our 12 year-old golden retriever, Gracie, who has hip arthritis. As humans, we have many things to help us when we hurt. When our four-legged family members have pain, we want to find ways to help. So I started researching, but could only find electric floor pads, something our vet didn’t recommend. I wanted a natural alternative…something to cuddle my dog.
I was amazed to find that statistics show that 1 in 5 dogs will get arthritis. That’s 8 million dogs in the U.S. alone! Also, the Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine reports that about 50 % of large breed dogs will develop dysplasia. Medium and small breeds, and even cats, are not immune to these diseases.

The Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) recommends several things to help relieve joint pain in dogs:

  • Maintain a healthy weight to reduce stress on joints.

  • Monitored exercise

  • Provide warmth for the joints.

As in people, animals will have more joint pain in cold, damp weather and will seek the comfort of heat.
